S.D., and Senate Republicans consider extending government funding deadline into January as House-passed Nov. 21 date becomes unrealistic.

That evaluation from Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray’s office comes as the White House has stepped up its pressure campaign on Indiana lawmakers, particularly Republican senators, in the last few weeks.

Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune have both commented on extending the funding date, though neither indicated what the new deadline would be.

Hakeem Jeffries said he and Mike Johnson talked about the shutdown this week, but each leader characterized the other as "irredeemable."
