NEW YORK (Reuters) -Nearly 26 million viewers tuned in for Game 7 of the baseball World Series, the most since 2017, broadcaster Fox said on Monday after the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in a dramatic finale.

The Dodgers earned rings, but baseball won the 2025 World Series. There will be books and documentaries made about an event that truly was a Fall Classic.

Mookie Betts snared the ball, danced toward second base, stepped on the bag, and threw a cross-body strike to first. With that, the 2025 baseball season came to an end. Unofficially, however, Betts’s beautiful, balletic double play closed the book on a World Series Game 7 destined to live forever.

Country superstar Brad Paisley has made history. And Monday night, it wasn’t for platinum records. The singer performed the national anthem during a landmark World Series game.

Austin lawyer Scott Wilson had made it to 1,564 straight Texas Longhorns home or away baseball games and was on its way to his 595th straight football game. He died Friday at age 74.

Tennessee baseball will hold its annual Orange & White Fall World Series game on Nov. 9 at Covenant Health Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST and gates will open at 11:30 a.m. EST. Covenant Health Park opened in April and is home to the Knoxville Smokies, a Double-A affiliate of the Cubs.
